Fannie Mae reported this week that in a recent survey of 3,000 Americans, the majority of those surveyed still prefer owning a home than renting. The survey revealed that 2/3s of renters surveyed said that they are hopeful to purchase a home in the future.
Recently I completed the Broker Pre-Licensing Education required by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission before you can take the state license examination in order to obtain a Real Estate Agents license in North Carolina.
There was another licensed agent from Florida who was also in the class who among other professional licenses held a mortgage loan officers license in Florida. When first I asked him why he was pursuing a license to sell real estate in North Carolina he said “you gotta follow the money“. I’m not sure if this is the kind of person I would want to represent me as a Buyer OR Seller but I don’t have to worry about it because I have my own real estate license. The Escrow Department will likely be the same department that will cash and hold your insurance claims check. Don’t be surprised if your bank/lender actually place a hold on the check for up to five business days due to the protential for fraud given the number of mass losses that have occurred recently.
Because of the plethora of natural disasters across the country it occurred to me that there may be a lot of Buyers and Sellers whose purchase or sale or mortgage refinance has been delayed for reasons they simply do not understand.
Recently the word Republican, like “Banker” has been used interchangeably to disparage and slander (and is often incorrect) my business but what made this stand out to me was how he said it. It was almost as if it was a disparaging remark and he was sorry for having used it!
